Day 197: Folie's de Mwah

Final encore of Club Mwah's Bedazzled show.

The team from work went to Club Mwah for our off-site event.  For the unaware, Club Mwah is a theater bar in Mandaluyong where majority of the performers are transvestites.  These ladies are amazing.  They probably look more feminine than I do.  Bedazzled is an elaborate show that combines several production numbers with different themes.  Mostly, from musicals.  I loved several acts in the show, the Eartha Kitt rendition of C'est si Bon, a funny take on Maybe This Time from Cabaret, Madonna's Shanti Ashtangi, routines from Dreamgirls, Burlesque and a whole lot more.  My favorite was probably the Chicago routine Cell Block Tango (He Had It Coming).  The performance was fantastic.  It's really worth watching.

Day 151: Coffee and Symphony

Daily fix is the theme for the week.

I have mentioned several times that I cannot function without my coffee at the start of day.  Neither can I last a day without music.  Having this two together can perk me up instantly.  It's a powerful combo, really.  I can run for miles after it.

Coffee Is (Cloud Cuckoo Land) love, and music is it's lover.

Day 114: Glass & Bottle

I could use a drink.  Since I was medicated the entire time last week, I limited myself to two cups of coffee in a day and the rest of the time just drinking water.  I was such a good girl.  Consider it my forced abstinence, even if I'm non-practicing and did not really plan on abstaining from anything.  Now that I'm feeling better, I could definitely enjoy a glass of wine.  After the tiring general cleaning that knocked me out for the rest of the weekend, I'd much rather enjoy curling up on my couch with a book and Adele's 21 album playing on the background.  However, my wine bottles are empty and my glasses need to get chilled.  So, I'm postponing this relaxing overture I have in mind for another lazy Sunday.  Hopefully, by then, I'd have gotten myself a fridge with wine and chilled glasses in it.

For now, I'd settle for a book and Someone Like You (Adele).

Day 54: Feel Good Music

I live my life with a soundrack.  Unless I can't or shouldn't, you would more or less see me with my headphones stuck in my ears.  I even sleep with the player on.  Nothing starts your day better than feel good music to wake you up.  It makes waiting for coffee less annoying.  I particularly like waking up to feel good music.  The kind of music that makes you feel it's all good.  Ok, I read that last line and I sounded like a crackpot.

Through the years, I have learned to appreciate music in whatever form, figure, beat, or language it comes in.  I have enjoyed OPM, rock, alternative, indie, jazz, ska, reggae, soul, blues, ballad, R&B, pop, hip hop, rap, techno, trance, electronic, classical, bluegrass, tribal, chants, celtic, folk, country, rock and roll, gospel, and choir respectively at certain points of my existence.  I go back to certain favorites, of course.  In music, though, what matters is the sound.  I may not understand a word of it, but if I liked it, I would listen to it.  It simply has to be Something That I Want (Grace Potter).

Day 29: Heroique

I've given up on playing, but that doesn't mean that I've given up on music.  Music, for me, is a constant.  It cannot not be there.  I sometimes wonder how you can put music into pictures.  That's why I put links of music to my posts sometime.  It's probably a given that I also like literature.  Reading and writing are probably the first things I enjoyed doing.  I'm an Alice traipsing in wonderland whenever I would read a story or write my thoughts.  Photography, meanwhile, is something I have learned to love.  At some point, I stopped taking pictures.  It was only recently that I picked up from where I left the habit.  The picture above is of a journal I got yesterday.  And this post, I guess, is a summary of all three interests.

Day 25: On Lost Art

There was a discussion I joined recently that talked about lost art.  Then, while I was going through the other Project 365 blogs, mooncake talked about her lost art.  It got me thinking about my own lost art.  I think we all have that.  That one passion we abandoned somewhere.  It's the violin for me.

I used to play the violin.  Used to.  I can say that comfortably now.  It was difficult for me to say that for some time, because I had a hard time accepting that I probably will not play music again.  Not that I was exceptional in it.  My level of expertise with the violin was mediocre at best.  I didn't learn it because I wanted to make a career out of it, though.  I just wanted to play.  I love music, although, music would not always love me.  My violin, though, have always loved me back.  It was patient with me, but I wasn't as patient with it.  Neither did I devote as much time for it as it deserved.  So, even if it was just there, I lost it.  I lost the art.  Unlike the others, this is probably one lost art I will let go of.
