My morning cup to start it right. I hope.
It's depressing that I can't eat properly. The weird feeling of having some foreign object stuck on your teeth, the difficulty with speech, the required extra maintenance, the feeling of having your teeth being constantly pulled, I can deal with all that. I have a high tolerance for pain. It's not the pain that's depressing me, though, it's the not eating that's depressing me. I'm used to eating meat. Lean, fatty, crunchy. The kind that will block your arteries in the long run. Now I miss them. So much, it's almost painful. I can't even eat the croutons in my soup without softening them up. Oh well, I guess I'll have to really find an alternative for the time being.
I need more coffee then.

Day 123: Sanctuary in the Blue Hour
I initially posted my siomai dinner thinking I wouldn't have the time to take another photo. However, my brain still refuses to accept that I should be asleep at night. So, I decided to head out in the blue hour. Why waste an hour of good light staring at the ceiling trying to sleep, right? This is St. Paul the Apostle's Sanctuary at 5:00AM. I took a photo of this on my 100th day in the project from my window. I figured, I can give it another view this time.
This entire move to the morning shift is really weird for me. I try to get up a couple of hours before work, but by 7:00PM, I start yawning. Normally, after working through a night shift, I can still stay awake for a few more hours. This time, though, I just feel really sleepy all the time. Then I wake up in the wee hours of the morning trying not to hate a normal life.

Day 100: St. Paul at Dawn
100th photo for this project. A view of St. Paul's Church at dawn.
I never thought I'd get past Seven Days (Sting), much less a hundred. It feels pretty good to cover this milestone, though.

Day 72: Here Comes The Sun
I was taking random photos to pick for the day when Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles) played in the background. Perfect timing. Just as the sun was rising, too. It certainly goes with the thought I had while my friend and I talked the night away.
Here comes the sun
And I say, it's alright
Here's to great mornings, and a great morning song to go with it.

Day 65: Next-Door Neighbor
To be honest, I don't really know my next-door neighbors. I'm not entirely the neighbourly type. Right outside my window, though, this is what you'll see. The building I live in is right next to a church. I sometimes joke that I hardly miss Sunday mass. I wake up to it.
If truth be told, though, I haven't heard mass in a really long time. So long, I've forgotten when was the last time I actually heard one. With me in the church, that is. I know that the last time I've been inside a church was because of a baptism. These days, you don't necessarily have to go through a mass to get baptized. Which tells you another irony about me. For someone named Faith, I'm not very religious. I'm not an atheist, don't get me wrong. I believe in God. How can this entire universe be so beautiful and amazing without a mastermind behind it? Besides, He's about the only constant entity there is. Everyone else will manage to fail me, except Him. It's the religion I'm not entirely comfortable with.
I'm not saying that the Church is bad or wrong ar anything like that. I just find it difficult to understand how a God so good will punish me so much for cursing every now and then (I've got it better now, believe me. I used to curse like a sailor until I got surrounded by kids). I'm not going to start talking against a God people believe in or talk about what I believe in. This photoblog was not intended for that purpose. I think that's a choice we all make and have to respect. But, if anyone's interested about my religion, I'm more or less a nominal Catholic bordering agnostic.

Day 48: Halfway
On my way home, I cross this island on Buendia. I don't usually go home this late in the morning. Normally, traffic wouldn't be this heavy and the sun isn't too far up in the horizon. Lately, though, I had to make adjustments in my schedule because of business needs. It makes me see the morning in a different perspective. It's more busy and bustling, yet still drowsy. As if people have already had the time to take in their morning coffee, but the caffeine hasn't kicked in. It's fascinating to watch when you're Halfway Home (Jason Mraz).

Day 4: Night Shift
I'm nocturnal. I'm not trying to be poetic, I just really am. I've been living most of the last six years wide awake during the night. So much so that when I spent a month working during the day, I felt completely misplaced, as if I was transported to a different timezone. Seeing daylight was a bit fascinating for me. Fascinating and weird. I have always felt more productive at night. The world seems more introspective after twilight. Add the fact that I like watching lights flicker on velvety black background. It's also strange that one thing I probably like best with working in the night, is going home in the morning. Morning light is always refreshing. No matter how stressful work is, walking home in the morning always makes me feel there's something good to look forward to.
