Day 1: Inside a Bag of Maltesers

So, let's try doing this one more time.

I was able to finish my first 365 Project, but failed to even finish the first month on the second attempt.  Considering how easier it is to take digital images, I don't know why.  But then I remember this project requires a certain amount of dedication, which I hope I have this year.  Interestingly, I don't have any set goals for this time.  I used to begin a year with a list of goals for myself.  Last year was so crazy, though, it kind of felt like a blur.  I'm hoping this project would distract me enough from my regular timetable so I do not degenerate into someone with a complete lack of creativity.

Anyway, a lot of the things I got over the holidays was sweets.  I got so much it felt like I raided Willy Wonka's factory. I ended up giving out a lot to friends and family.  As crazy as it sounds, I'm not big on sweets.  I prefer meals.  I like desserts, because they complete a meal.  Snacking on sweets is not necessarily something I do a lot of.  I saved this bag of Maltesers for myself, though, because I enjoy the texture of the malt.

I don't have any though-provoking insight on the start of the new year, but I'm up for whatever it shells out.  As the song goes, anything could happen.

Day 254: Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate truffles from my mom.  I love them.  I'm not a huge chocolate person, but I love truffles.  You can't go wrong with them.

Day 169: Dolce Far Niente

The sweetness of doing nothing.

I spent most of Saturday just lounging.  All I did was set territory on my couch and watch movies until my eyes hurt.  Even then I didn't turn the TV off.  These were light movies, anyway.  Not much thinking required.  I got to watch some favorite classics, like Amelie and Funny Face, and some new ones I haven't seen.  Like Eat, Pray, Love.

I read Eat, Pray, Love a couple of years back.  This was the book that launched a thousand soul searches through travel.  I thought it was lovely book, really.  I enjoyed reading Elizabeth Gilbert's chronicle of her year eating, praying and loving.  I remember also looking forward to watching the film, but somehow never got around to doing so.  I think the movie did well, considering.  I have learned to accept that there will always be missing pieces in an adaptation.  One of my favorite things, both from the book and the movie, was her interlude in Italy.  It's one of the places I have always dreamed of seeing.  Someday, I know I'm going to see and experience it.  For the time being, at least as far as my weekends are concerned, I try to emulate the Italian art of doing nothing.  Dolce far niente.

Day 45: Sugar for My Valentine

I got a sweet tooth.  The fact that I will swear by ice cream is a testament to that.  And even if I'm not exactly fond of Valentine's, I have to admit I like seeing the abundance of flowers and candy around.  It's overrated, but at least people still give love past Christmas.  One of our associates gave the candy above.  The cupcakes, I got from my colleagues.  We all get a cupcake each, and we're supposed to give them to someone we admire professionally in the company.  Well,  all that running around with the printer last week paid off with candy!

So, I end this day eating chocolate while listening to Echo & the Bunnymen's Lips Like Sugar.
